Protecting our greenbelt: Definitive Map Modification

Proactive steps

Following the threat to our greenbelt, the team sought formalisation of Public Footpaths across the site to legally safeguard historic and heavily used community paths against future disruption or development. WGSPG gathered local feedback and evidence on established paths to submit formal Definitive Map Modification Order (DMMO) applications to Surrey County Council under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981.

Why This Matters:

If successfully accepted by Surrey County Council, guarantees permanent public access rights for local residents, families, and dog walkers. Connects neighbourhoods seamlessly to Woodhatch Park, New Pond Farm, and the new Community Orchard.
